About Kairos
A shared mission, history, and people shape the heart of the Kairos community. We invite you to explore who we are, where we've come from, and learn how you can find a place to belong with us.

To Live and Love like Jesus
At Kairos, we seek to encourage one another daily to live and love like Jesus.
We believe that following Jesus is a communal pursuit where we wrestle with vulnerability, celebrate honesty, and believe that God works through people to bring restoration to the world and to God’s people. We invite you to join us as together we seek to know Jesus, live out his teachings, and join in God’s work in the world.
"I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34-35
Our History

2008
Our story is one of faith, movement, and community. It began in the Fall of 2008, when a small group of 12 people gathered in the living room of our first pastors, Thomas and Beth Daniel, to worship and dream about starting a new church.
2009
By February 2009, that dream became public as we hosted our first worship service at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. Later that year, in September 2009, Kairos moved to a location in Grant Park to begin regular Sunday morning worship.
2014
As our community grew and our sense of mission evolved, the pastor at the time, Drew Ditzel, and the Leadership Team voted unanimously in December 2014 to charter as a PC(USA) congregation and move our ministry to Sandy Springs.
2015
We settled into our current home on Riverside Drive in October 2015, where we continue to grow our roots today. In
2024
In 2024, we entered a new season of ministry as Kairos called Lyndsay Lee Slocum to serve as our pastor.

How We Are Led
Kairos is a Presbyterian Church (USA), which means we interpret God's story through a historical lens that traces back to the Protestant Reformation, trusting the grace and love of Jesus Christ for ourselves and for the whole world.
Our church is governed by a Leadership Team (Session) comprised of elders—members elected by the congregation to lead and serve. The elders work with the pastors and staff to seek to faithfully lead Kairos Church, prayerfully discerning the movement of the Holy Spirit and our own faithful response as a church.

Ryan Horne
Worship Pastor
As our Worship Pastor, Ryan is the lead planner and music director for Sunday mornings, helping us connect with God through song. A friend to many staff and members from his time at Peachtree Presbyterian, Ryan cherishes the small, close community we share—a place where we all struggle and celebrate life together. He loves working alongside fellow staff, musicians, and congregants to lead worship. On a perfect Saturday, you might find Ryan taking a couple of long walks before settling in to read a psychological thriller or watch a documentary. He hopes that everyone feels welcome and safe being vulnerable in our church.

Miriam Ryan
Pastor of Community Discipleship
Miriam has the privilege of helping people find community and discover what it looks like to become more like Jesus. She has been with Kairos for nine and a half years and loves being part of a church that feels like family, right in her neighborhood. What she loves most is helping people find a true sense of belonging in the church. A perfect Saturday is spent with her family, walking by the river, and cheering on her kids at their sporting events. Miriam hopes that every person will experience the love of Jesus in a way that helps them desire to be with Him, become like Him, and do as He did.

Lyndsay Lee Slocum
Lead Pastor
Lyndsay partners with the Kairos community to discern the impact God is making through us and then works together to make it happen. Drawn by the Holy Spirit two years ago, she "fell in love" with the people of Kairos and felt a beautiful call that God was orchestrating. She is honored to participate in the most sacred parts of people’s lives and loves when the Holy Spirit's presence is palpable during worship. Her hope is that we have an authentic encounter with Jesus that calls us to live and love like Him, and that we feel known and loved in a real, life-changing way within our authentic community.

Jan Williamson
Children and Family Pastor
Jan's calling is to encourage families as they live and love like Jesus. Having been part of the community for ten years, she was first captivated by the congregation’s energy and its commitment to helping people of all ages follow Jesus. She is grateful to walk alongside families, watching faith pass from generation to generation, and loves that no two days are the same. Her ideal Saturday is warm and sunny, including a walk, watching football, and enjoying dinner and conversations with family and friends. Jan's hope is that we all know we are deeply loved by God and share that love with the world.

Marchant Young
Student Ministry Director
Marchant's commitment is simple: to pursue Jesus all day long. He was drawn to Kairos by the authentic worship, compelling testimonies, and the people who make this community feel like home. He loves nothing more than spending time with our students, walking alongside them as they grow in their faith. His perfect Saturday is a "sabbath" Saturday—unplugged, enjoying a hot latte, devotion, and a meal shared with loved ones. Marchant hopes for the people of Kairos to know Jesus within an authentic, loving community.
